Steve Adelman is immersed in the world of live events. He is Vice President of the Event Safety Alliance, an international association focused on life safety in event production and operations, and he is Deputy Chair of the Global Crowd Management Alliance. As the lead author of both ANSI ES1.9-2020, Crowd Management and ANSI ES1.40-2023, Event Security, Steve literally wrote the American National Standards how to safely manage people in public accommodations. He now leads the group creating a consensus industry standard regarding Parade Safety, and he founded and co-hosts the Event Safety Podcast. Steve Adelman is a sought-after author and speaker regarding event safety, crowd management, event security, and the law related to events.

Expert Witness

Thanks to his unique combination of legal training, advocacy skills, and subject matter expertise, Steve Adelman is a skilled expert witness regarding the standard of care applicable to live event safety and security in a variety of contexts. Notable engagements have included the 2011 Indiana State Fair stage roof collapse, the 2017 Route 91 Harvest Festival shooting, and the 2021 Astroworld crowd crush. He has also provided guidance to legislative leaders following event-related disasters in several states.
